There are two finishing touches that make me feel attractive, polished and ready to face the world. One is jewellery and the other is scent!
Having converted one passion into a successful business; designing affordable, luxury jewellery with incredible appeal to likeminded women, my drive and motivation invariably led to my next passion – perfume. With a clear directive but no technical knowledge on perfume development, I sought out an award-winning specialist who shared my ambition and dedication within their own arena, having over 20 years’ experience in the global fragrance industry, to help create my dream scent.
The hardest part of developing a fragrance is describing your desired scent in words. I knew I wanted to create a warm, enveloped, luxurious and expensive smelling perfume. The smell of musk always evokes happy memories for me, as my nan use to wear it. I wanted a premium fragrance, that retained a warm ‘second skin’ feeling and was comforting whilst hitting the right level of sophistication.
After 3 rounds of personalised sampling, encompassing over 35 different formulations to find the perfect scent, there was no mistaking the winning formulation. I selected base notes of amber, vanilla and musk. The top and mid notes included jasmine, lily of the valley and peony. With the delicate, super easy florals adding a feminine touch to the scent and working primarily as a magnifying glass for the base notes
The reaction from my team was incredible! “If we could bottle you, this is what you would smell like! This is Carrie in a bottle!”. Scent is so important to me and can change my mood in an instant. When you walk into a room and people say ‘wow’ and ask what you’re wearing, it’s uplifting. That’s what I wanted to create with my signature fragrance. A desirable, luxury perfume, but without the expensive price tag!
The fragrance notes I gravitated towards were warm and embrace like. I always design my jewellery with the thought of it being worn next to the skin and evoking a special feeling. The amber and musk notes certainly radiate warmth and light on the skin, in the same way as the sunlight catches the gorgeous gemstones synonymous with Carrie Elizabeth Jewellery.
