Find Your Signature Jewellery Style
When I think of ‘signature jewellery’, I think about women with famous and distinctive looks - Elsa Peretti in her Tiffany Bone Cuff, Elizabeth Taylor in glittering gemstones, Jane Birkin in long beads and chains...
Having a jewellery signature doesn’t necessarily mean one extraordinary piece that represents everything about you in jewellery.
It’s about finding pieces that make you feel like you, that you can throw on with a plain t-shirt and still make you feel like you’re communicating something about yourself or your style.
Finding your own signature jewellery is a personal process. It’s also way easier (and more fun) than it might sound…

What does Signature Jewellery Style actually mean?
Outside of jewellery, a signature is something recognisable. A way of doing things or a stylistic detail. Something repeatable that brings your individuality through.
So we could think of ‘signature’ as ‘personality.
’Your own personality might be more ‘dancing the day away at Glastonbury’, but your everyday life calls for office wear. Jewellery allows you to bring colour or bohemian spirit through - it’s often the easiest way to express your style and character.
Your signature starts with your life
Because a signature is personal, you can’t find a signature piece of jewellery by following trends or a set of rules.
Instead, begin with your own life and lifestyle. What do your days actually look like? And what do you want to feel when you get dressed? Signature jewellery should suit the life you lead.
To be a signature piece, you should be able to effortlessly wear it for most occasions, so focus on jewellery that is comfortable for you and works with your everyday life.
Consider the patterns in what you already wear - most people have more of a ‘signature’ than they realise.
You might always gravitate towards gold, or towards vintage details. You might prefer shorter chains, or always choose stud earrings. Do you love gemstones, or prefer things clean and minimal?

It’s all in the feeling...
When you know what personality you want to show and what pieces you’ll wear day in, day out, you can begin to identify exactly which pieces will become signature for you.
If you want to feel confident and put-together, consider a polished gold chain or bangle. If you want to express your individuality, stack gemstone rings or necklaces. If you want to tell an eclectic story, curate a personal jumble of charms.
You’ll sometimes find me in a sleek trousers and top, sometimes in cosy knitwear, sometimes in a flowing dress. The one constant is my layers of jewellery, which always add a bohemian, creative, tactile edge to my look - my signature!

My own signature has come together quite organically as I’ve played with styles and pieces over the years. So perhaps the most important tip I have is to trust your instincts.
If you see a piece of jewellery and it makes your heart beat faster, listen! That’s your gut speaking, and it’s great at telling you what you really love. If you just can’t take a piece off, that’s also sign!
Take note of the pieces you love wearing and that make you feel like you - that feeling guides what you really need more of.

Find (and love!) your jewellery signature
Your jewellery signature is simply the jewellery you wear, love and keep coming back to.
It’s a constant that becomes recognisable, that brings something distinctive to your look, whatever else you’re wearing.
