The story behind Evergreen
It all started with a charm bracelet
Earlier this year, Lydia shared that one of her dreams for the year was to create a jewellery collection. What she didn’t expect was for that dream to become a reality quite so quickly - or quite so organically.
Lydia discovered Carrie Elizabeth’s collection of charms and, after choosing some of her favourites, set about creating her own bracelet. A little confusion followed when she realised the bracelet she had ordered wasn’t actually a charm bracelet, but a bracelet designed to hold the charms. What could have been a simple mix-up became the beginning of something much more exciting: an invitation to create a collection of charms together.
And so, Evergreen was born.
“It's honestly the most beautiful story that I have been on with them,” Lydia says. “I got to create something that felt so wonderful and intrinsically linked to Evergreen, but also just its own thing as well.”
Inspired by the natural world and the symbolism woven throughout Evergreen, the collection brings together charms, jewellery and keepsakes designed to hold their own meaning. The Evergreen Charm Collection
Among Lydia’s favourites are the oak leaf and acorn - symbols of renewal, endurance and resilience. The great English oak has always been synonymous with the Evergreen story, representing the ability to return after the coldest months and grow into something strong and enduring.
Then there’s ivy.
The ivy leaf was never intended to become the symbol of Evergreen, but Lydia feels that it couldn’t be more fitting. To her, ivy represents resilience: a plant that continues to grow through difficult seasons, holding on and staying green when everything around it changes.
“I love an unsung hero. I love an underdog,” Lydia explains. For her, ivy is a reminder to look again at the things we might overlook, and to recognise the beauty and strength that can be found there.
The birch leaf carries a similar meaning. Inspired by the leaves Lydia remembers making rubbings of as a child, the charm has been designed with incredible attention to detail, capturing every delicate vein.
Symbolically, the birch is one of the first trees to grow back after a landscape has experienced a difficult season, helping to regenerate the land.
And then there are the little details that make the collection feel so personal: a packet of seeds, representing the beginnings of our journeys; a tiny trowel and fork; the watering can; and charms inspired by Lydia’s much-loved animals.
