Moonstone has deep spiritual significance and connection to femininity, fertility and the moon. Because of its connection to the moon and its cycles, moonstone is thought to align with the rhythms of the female body, promoting intuition, inner harmony, and nurturing energy. Many people wear moonstone jewellery or keep it close as a symbol of fertility, pregnancy, and motherhood.

Often called the “stone of new beginnings,” it is believed to enhance inner growth, strength, and intuition. Many associate moonstone with harmony and emotional balance, making it a powerful talisman for those seeking calm and clarity in their lives.

This gemstone is also known to soothe emotions, balance hormones, and support mental and physical well-being during times of stress. It is often worn as a symbol of protection and guidance, helping to align energies with the natural rhythms of the moon.

Origins of Moonstone

Moonstone is a semi-precious gemstone primarily found in India, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, and Myanmar (Burma). Its signature shimmer - often referred to as adularescence (a natural optical effect that makes gemstones appear to glow from within) creates a soft, glowing effect across the surface of the stone, mimicking the luminous glow of moonlight.

Moonstone is typically extracted from pegmatite rocks and alluvial deposits (where minerals accumulate in riverbeds and sediment layers). Once extracted, raw moonstone undergoes cutting and polishing to enhance its stunning, natural adularescence.
